The course meets at 10 a.m. for theory and maneuver discussions. The boats are then set up. Under the guidance of the sailing instructor, you set off and sail to the practice area where the training program is supervised in a relaxed yet responsible manner. The course ends at 1:30 p.m.

IMPORTANT: Due to the moderate wind conditions, the basic youth sailing course preferably takes place in the morning. However, changes to the course schedule are possible or necessary due to weather conditions or the number of participants.

course content The basic maneuvers are tack, jibe, turn, tack, buoy-overboard, Q-tack, mooring/casting off the beach, capsizing/righting as well as courses to the wind, correct sail position and knot knowledge.
license At the end of the course (usually Friday morning) the exam for the basic sailing license can be taken. This is a first important proof of experience with which you can rent dinghies in areas without official official obligation. The testing fee of €25 is paid directly on site
recommended clothing and sailing/surfing equipment

Neoprene shoes must be worn due to the risk of injury. We recommend a long wetsuit from September to June plus surf fleece (long-sleeved shirt with thermal protection) on cold days. In July, August and warm September and June days, a short wetsuit and/or UV shirt. Plus sailing gloves, glasses strap and sunscreen with a high SPF.

Sales and rental of sailing and surfing equipment in our shop .

Life jackets are available in sufficient numbers and in a variety of sizes and are included in the course prices.

teaching material

We recommend the instruction booklet “Ditch Sailing” from the VDWS (Association of German Water Sports Schools). It is the ideal teaching booklet for the course and to prepare for the exam.
