j/70 beginner course

The program for all sailors who are looking to switch to fast sports boat sailing. Sports boats in general - and our J/70 in particular - impress with their maneuverability, stability, many trimming options and easy handling.

previous knowledge/requirements

Participants are expected to be able to safely perform the following maneuvers on a dinghy in wind speeds up to 4: tacking, gybing, beating and head into the wind.

J/70 sailors must be athletic and agile.

duration Monday to Friday, this program can be booked half-day or full-day. The course program takes place on one half of the day and for full-day sailors there is free sailing on the other half of the day. Anyone who is still on site on Saturday has free sailing opportunities or can take part in the day trip for an additional charge.
course schedule The class meets on Monday at 10:00 a.m. The boats are then set up. Under the guidance of the sailing instructor, you set off and sail to the practice area where the training program is supervised by the trainer in a relaxed and responsible manner. At 1:30 p.m. we take a well-deserved lunch break. From Tuesday to Friday the course meets at 2:30 p.m. Practical training units, theory and longer strokes alternate until 6 p.m. On Thursday afternoon there will be a longer flotilla excursion in the Formentor area. The highlight and conclusion of the regatta for the “Pollensa Racing Cup” will take place on Friday afternoon. The full-day sailors go free sailing under supervision in the morning (Monday afternoon). IMPORTANT: The J/70 course preferably takes place in the afternoon due to the stronger wind conditions. However, changes to the course schedule are possible or necessary due to weather conditions or the number of participants.
course content

It's about learning the special techniques of recreational boat sailing from the ground up. Casting off and docking, tacking and gybing techniques, turning, safety maneuvers such as buoy overboard, anchoring and sailing in strong winds. Introduction to sail, weight and rig trim and gennaker sailing.

Recommended clothing and sailing/surfing equipment

It is essential to wear boat shoes or sneakers due to the risk of injury. Sporty, comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather. From October to April we recommend rain protection (jacket, trousers, shoes), in May, June and September a thin rain jacket/windbreaker. Plus sailing gloves, glasses strap and sunscreen with a high SPF.

Sales and rental of sailing and surfing equipment in our shop .

Life jackets are available in sufficient numbers and in a variety of sizes and are included in the course prices.
