Kids Catamaran Beginner Course (7-11y)

The course is for kids who want to have fun learning how to handle a sailboat or want to further expand their knowledge and learn new things.

previous knowledge/requirements

No previous knowledge necessary. Ages 7 to 11 inclusive

duration Monday to Friday, the program can be booked half-day or full-day. The course takes place on one half of the day and we offer childcare on the other half of the day.
course schedule

The course meets at 10 a.m. for theory and knot exercises. The boats are then rigged up. Under the guidance of the sailing instructor, you set off and sail to the practice area where the training program is supervised in a relaxed yet responsible manner. The course ends at 1:30 p.m.                  In the afternoon it is possible to book childcare.

IMPORTANT: Due to the wind conditions, the children's cat basic course preferably takes place in the morning. However, changes to the course schedule are possible or necessary due to weather conditions or the number of participants.

course content The basic maneuvers tack, jibe, turn, tack, buoy-overboard, Q-tack, mooring/casting off the beach, capsizing/righting as well as courses to the wind, correct sail position and knot knowledge.
childcare Here the children will spend a lovely afternoon and the parents can go sailing without any stress. We will try to encourage the children to sail, be it on the NewCat, the Galeon, the RS-2000 or on a Hobie 15 (depending on availability). However, we would like to point out that, especially in groups with younger children (7-9 year olds), it often happens that the children are exhausted from the morning sailing and would rather stay on the beach to play volleyball, run around on a surfboard or build sandcastles . So that the children don't lose the fun of sailing because we ask too much of them, we focus entirely on the children's wishes. Childcare can be booked on a daily basis or for the entire week.
license As a rule, the youngest certificate can only be taken for beginners after two weeks of course participation. Children who already have the youngest license have the opportunity to purchase a Cat Junior license. The examination fee of €15 is paid directly on site
Recommended clothing and sailing/surfing equipment

Neoprene shoes must be worn due to the risk of injury. We recommend a long wetsuit from September to June plus surf fleece (long-sleeved shirt with thermal protection) on cold days. In July, August and warm September and June days, a short wetsuit and/or UV shirt. Plus a glasses strap and sunscreen with a high SPF.

Sales and rental of sailing and surfing equipment in our shop .

Life jackets and wetsuits are available in sufficient numbers and in a variety of sizes and are included in the course prices.

teaching material

A teaching booklet accompanying the lesson can be purchased on site for €5.
